Moonshine is a classic Beal’s Island lobster boat built by Fred Lenfesty in 1981. She is planked with cedar over steam bent white oak frames and backbone. She’s powered by a 425 hp Crusader which pushes her to 20 kts (16 kt cruise). Her oak backbone is in need of replacement – an estimate is available from Hylan & Brown Boatbuilders.

LILY PAD is a distinctive, professionally built coastal cruiser designed for comfortable weekends on the water. Offered by her original owner and maintained by her builder since launch, she combines graceful lines and quiet operation with a sheltered helm, practical accommodations, and excellent overall condition.
Shortly after launching the prototype of Doug’s Top Hat design in 2002, he sketched a new version with higher topsides, a windshield, and a shelter top. Sheathed strip-plank construction eliminated the sawn frames, saving labor and interior space, while a cored foredeck removed the need for deck beams and increased headroom below. Moving the main bulkhead aft created space for a toilet opposite a sink and cupboards aft of the V-berth. Together, these changes produced a more spacious and protected variation on the original design.
The new design retained the original’s good seakeeping, graceful lines, and quiet running, with the outboard enclosed in a well at the stern. Better protection from the elements and more interior space transformed it into a comfortable weekend cruiser. In 2013, a local couple commissioned BAGATELLE to explore the sheltered coves and islands of the Maine coast. BAGATELLE’s success led to the sister vessel SKYE, named Best in Show, Professionally Built, at the 25th Annual Wooden Boat Show, and most recently to LILY PAD.
LILY PAD is offered for sale by her original and only owner. Built with thoughtful details from the outset, she features clever foredeck anchor stowage and additional sound-deadening material in the motor well. With radar and a full set of roll-down curtains beneath the shelter top, she is well-equipped for coastal cruising. She has remained in our care since launch and is in excellent condition throughout.
